Poposki: Athens not interested in name talks progress

The statement of envoy Matthew Nimetz that there is nothing new in the name talks is most relevant. He wished for certain progress, which is lacking at the moment, said Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki on Thursday, commenting yesterday's meeting of the UN mediator and the representatives of Macedonia and Greece over the name row.

"We remain on our assessment that has been reiterated on a number of occasions and shared by all outside factors regarding the lack of will and motivation for progress by our interlocutor, especially taking into consideration their domestic challenges and priorities. We want to overcome this problem, which is the only obstacle for Macedonia to start EU accession talks and join NATO", Poposki told reporters after opening a multipurpose playground in village Celopek.

Meanwhile, he added, we have exchanged opinions with the European Commission over the efforts Macedonia can undertake despite the Greek blockade in the Council.

"Much can be done in the field of reforms and priorities noted in the high-level accession dialogue, and we will do this", underlined FM Poposki.
