The Government & ministries

The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is the holder of the executive power in the Republic of North Macedonia, comprised of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers. The Government is elected by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, by majority votes of the total number of Members of the Parliament, usually after the parliamentary elections.
The current composition of the Government was elected on August 30, 2020, following the early parliamentary elections in July 2020. The President of the country Stevo Pendarovski handed over the mandate for composition of the Government to the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev. The Assembly voted for Zoran Zaev’s Government with 62 votes "for", and 51 votes "against".
The mandate of the Government is to implement the political commitments envisaged in the Government Work Programme 2020-2024. You can read about the competencies of the Government here. Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia is Zoran Zaev. The Prime Minister has 4 deputies:

Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia

The Office of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia was established on February 2, 2002, with an objective of assisting the President of the Government in the exercise of his rights and duties deriving from the Constitution, the Law and the Rules of Procedure of the Government.

General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia

The General Secretariat is a professional service of the Government that provides logistical and expert support to: the Government as a whole, the President of the Government, his deputies and ministers, with the objective of lawful, efficient and transparent operation of the Government. It was founded in 2000 under the Law on the Law on Government. The General Secretariat is headed by the Secretary General, assisted by the Deputy Secretary General.

The Secretary General of the Government is Muhamed Zeqiri. His deputy is Tahir Hani.
