Forum of Slavic Cultures observes 10. anniversary

The third seminar on museum operations dedicated to theatre museology in the 21. century marked Friday the start of observances of the 10. anniversary of international foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures.

FSC unites 13 states and over 300 million people (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia), cooperating and exchanging knowledge and experiences on projects aimed at preserving their respective cultures.

FSC director Andreja Rihter said all countries cooperate in the projects, making the forum a unique institution with interests in Brussels and Strasbourg, UNESCO and all big book fairs worldwide.

"I would like to thank Macedonia's Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska, who has been the forum's chairperson for three years, during which time we have invested efforts in networking institutions, individuals and states. The forum brings people closer through projects related to cultural heritage, language, music, and dance. Over the course of the past decade, we have established communication with over 3,000 partners", said Rihter.

Minister Kanceska-Milevska stressed the forum is globally recognized as a reference platform for intercultural dialogue, contributing to the nurturing of Slavic identity and promotion of the rich culture of Slavic states.

"I am convinced today's seminar on theatre museology in the 21. century will give you the opportunity to see our new virtual museum, but also tackle the issues of museum reconstructions, use of new technologies in permanent museum displays, and digital content of museum exhibits", said Kanceska-Milevska.

The observance also includes the presentation of the "ZIVA" award for cultural Slavic heritage to the best museum institution. In addition, exhibit "100 Years Theatre in Skopje" of the Serbian Museum of Theatre Arts will open, followed by a concert of regional musical ensembles promoting non-material cultural heritage of Forum member-states.
