Macedonian doctors to be trained in Ljubljana

Starting September, the first group of Macedonian doctors will be sent to be included in the work of all clinical departments in the University Medical Center in Ljubljana and to get additional training.

This has been agreed during the working visit of Health Minister Nikola Todorov to Slovenia. On Monday, Todorov met with the management of Ljubljana's University Medical Center - its medical director Sergej Horkej and CEO Simon Vrhunec.

The Ljubljana-based Medical Center is the largest hospital in Slovenia and one of the leading medical centers in the region with over 100,000 patients and more than 750,000 outpatient treatments annually.

Several key aspects of cooperation have been agreed at the meeting, including trainings for Macedonian doctors at the Medical Center in Ljubljana, months-long study visits of Slovenian medical professors in Macedonia and a study visit of Slovenian doctors and professors in a bid to present new methods and techniques in Macedonia, said the Ministry of Health.

Moreover, interlocutors at the meeting have agreed to sign a joint healthcare cooperation memorandum, according to the Ministry.

Minister Todorov on Tuesday is resuming his working visit in Frankfurt, Germany. He is expected to visit several top health institutions and to sign health cooperation memorandums.
