No hidden cases in drawers of civil servants, says Ivanovski

Accelerated procedure to obtain documents from state institutions, no backlog and electronic monitoring of documents that are being processed. All this should be enabled by the upgraded version of the electronic document management system in state institutions presented on Monday.

The Ministry of Information Society and Administration, being the project leader, has procured 23 new scanners with a speed of up to 60 pages per minute for 14 institutions.

"This project is of particular importance because an automatic process of the overall working procedure in institutions will take place. The system keeps on being upgraded and it is а key in installing an effective and service-oriented administration. It will prevent from having hidden cases in the drawers of public servants. Every case entering the administration will be scanned and afterward those who are in charge will be able to follow where it might be stuck upon a request by a citizen," Minister of Information Society and Administration Ivo Ivanovski told a press conference.

The project, he added, aims at keeping an electronic archive in the institutions and an electronic document exchange through pre-defined processes establishing the course of a document, including those in charge of drafting and approving documents. Quick flow of documents and information will be allowed and the overall functioning of institutions is expected to be enhanced by introducing working standards, the Minister noted.

The Ministry of Information Society and Administration is resuming the action system implementation plan in another 10 institutions, Ivanovski said. A total of 20 institutions will be covered, including all ministries, secretariats and general secretariats in the government.
