Gruevski: Protests not in interest of neither Macedonians nor Albanians

Peaceful protests in which the citizens want to execute their rights and to champion certain ideas are held in every democratic country with overwhelming support and impact. However, a protest in which there is violence is something that cannot be supported in any country, including our own.

This was stated Monday by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski while answering journalist questions in relation to recent protests organized against the court verdicts reached in Monster case. He underscored that the state and its institutions had the capacity to tackle similar, even more unpleasant situations than the recent ones.

"The Interior Ministry has been doing its job these days quite professionally and the state will not allow these protests to escalate to an extent that might threaten the interests of the citizens and institutions," the PM stated adding that the situation was being monitored closely.

He warned that certain organizations, individuals and groups had been trying in the past few days to add fuel to the fire because of their own personal agenda.

"I want to emphasize that these people are not acting neither in the interests of the Macedonians nor in the interests of the Albanians, Turks, Roma, Bosniaks and all other minorities living in Macedonia, nor in the interests of Muslim and Christians. These people are implementing their own or someone else's agenda," stated Gruevski.
