Gruevski: EU integration reforms remain a priority for Government

European integration is a strategic objective of Macedonia and reforms involving European integration remain a priority for the Government as chosen priorities stemming from the High Level Accession Dialogue and the engagement on their full fulfillment serve as a reference document, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at Wednesday's meeting with the European Commission's Enlargement Director-General, Christian Danielsson.

The purpose, need and usefulness of an institutional dialogue and suitable and productive political debates within the institutions with the involvement of all political factors as well as the need of accountable and dedicated conduct from stakeholders were pointed out at the meeting, Gruevski's cabinet.

Gruevski and Danielsson discussed Macedonia's European integration process, its perspectives and reforms implemented to realize the European agenda. They welcomed the continuous and well-established dialogue between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Commission.

PM Gruevski pledged that European integration was a strategic objective of Macedonia and reforms involving European integration remained a priority for the Government as chosen priorities stemming from the High Level Accession Dialogue and the engagement on their full fulfillment served as a reference document. He said that further efforts and reforms would be made that allowed continuous modernization and advancement of the economy and social spheres.

The interlocutors also discussed the April elections and the procedures for forming a new government. PM Gruevski stated that OSCE's preliminary findings had been carefully analyzed and once final findings and recommendations were released, they would be taken into account. An action plan was already being prepared to further improve legislation and its implementation, it was said. The purpose, need and usefulness of an institutional dialogue and suitable and productive political debates within the institutions with the involvement of all political factors as well as the need of accountable and dedicated conduct from stakeholders were underscored.

The interlocutors also focused on issues having an impact over the EU integration process and at the same time PM Gruevski underlined Macedonia's strong commitment to strengthening the good neighborly ties, intensifying dialogue and settling outstanding issues in the spirit of European values as well as the readiness and openness to cooperate with neighboring countries in a number of areas.

Furthermore, Gruevski and Danielsson shared views on many other issues related to mutual cooperation and its effects.
