Minister Janakieski addresses Bucharest economic forum

Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski presented Tuesday progress in road infrastructure investments at the economic forum within the Meeting of Heads of Governments of Central and Eastern European Countries and China in Bucharest.

Minister Janakieski referred to the signing of the agreement over construction of motorway sections Miladinovci-Stip and Kicevo-Ohrid, as well as ongoing construction of new motorway section Demir Kapija-Smokvica and overhaul of section Veles-Katlanovo along Corridor 10.

"We are also working on improvement of railway transport and infrastructure in the country. The main goal is increase in the corridors' capacities towards better cohesion with EU member-states and neighboring countries, promotion of sustainable development by reducing negative effects of transport on environment, improvement of safety, increase in the attractiveness of railway transport, as well as acceleration of trains", he added.

Janakieski also met with Romanian counterpart Ramona Manescu, focusing on increase of quotas of commodity transport licenses and annulment of road taxes for Macedonian transporters.

Interlocutors agreed on the holding of a technical-level meeting between the countries' joint committee on road transport in January 2014.

Moreover, Minister Janakieski met with representatives of Romanian airline "Tarom" over the possibility of introducing Skopje-Bucharest flight.
