FM Poposki visits 'I Love Macedonia' summer camp in Ohrid

Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki met Friday with the children attending this year's summer camp "I Love Macedonia" in Ohrid.

He spoke with the children of Macedonian immigrants living in neighbouring countries, who attend Macedonian language classes conceived as an activity aiming at maintaining the personal, national and cultural identity of the members of Macedonian communities in Serbia, Albania and Bulgaria.

"Children of Macedonian origin living in neighbouring countries are attending an intense course in Macedonian language. The course is combined with lessons about Macedonia enabling them to have fun in their homeland through play and games," Poposki said.

The Ohrid summer camp is part of a government-backed project "Far Away, So Close" bringing together all of the citizens of Macedonian background, especially the younger ones in order bonds to be established between them.

The summer camp takes place for a second year in a row and is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event, which runs till August 25, brings together 35 children, representatives of Macedonian minorities in Serbia, Albania, Kosovo and Bulgaria.

Professors from the Stip Faculty of Philology have been holding lectures about the Macedonian language, culture and history and the children attending the summer camp have been taken on tours to visit the cultural - historical heritage in Ohrid and its surroundings.
