PM Gruevski visits lab for Genomics and Proteomics within MANU

Premier Nikola Gruevski and Minister of Education/Science Spiro Ristevski visited Tuesday the lab for genomics and proteomics - part of the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts (MANU) Research Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology 'Georgi D. Efremov'.

The Government invested about EUR 600.000 in a project for upgrading the lab, which enabled widening of the research objectives toward larger scale investigations of monogenic diseases, comprehensive studies of some common complex diseases such as cancers, infertility, mental retardation and deafness by high throughput genomic and proteomic technologies.

There is no other such lab in Macedonia, which I hope will be fully exploited by private, public clinics, Gruevski said, proposing MANU to 'sell' it wisely and thus provide an additional income.
