PM Gruevski visits archaeological site Skupi

Excavations on Roman Theater within the archaeological site Skupi, which will take about two-three years, are to be followed by its conservation and restoration, so that it may be used as a scene for cultural events, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters on Sunday.

Today Gruevski, along with Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and Director of the Cultural Heritage Protection Office Viktor Lilic, visited the ancient settlement Skupi, to oversee the progress of the project for excavation, conservation and restoration of the Roman Theater.

"The Ministry of Culture and institutions, involved in this project, are committed to completing the excavations, which will resume in the next two-three years. The Government supports the project and I believe that it is going to be successful," Gruevski said, expressing belief that the restored theater will be a venue of numerous cultural events and attract many tourists.
