Nobel Laureates in Literature project wrapped up with promotion of 20 new books

Works by 20 Nobel laureates in Literature, including Kipling, Reymont, Steinbeck, Solzhenitsyn, Pamuk, Beckett, Miłosz, were promoted Monday as the edition "Translation of Works by Nobel Laureates in Literature" was completed. The project was realized in the past four years by the Government and the Ministry of Culture.

The edition is made up of 146 books by all laureates since 1901 until 2012.

The Government through the ministry is implementing several large-scale literary projects, such as '130 Volumes of Macedonian Literature', 'Stars of World Literature' containing 560 books of all genres and an upcoming project 'Top Achievements in World Philosophy, History and Psychology with Psychoanalysis,' and translation of 1,000 textbooks used at world's top universities.

"I know that these books will meet the needs of many booklovers, but I also know that the search for a good book has no frontiers. Therefore, the Government continues investing in enriching Macedonia's literary heritage with good books," said Gruevski speaking at the closing promotion.

Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said that Macedonia's culture with the project "Nobel Laureates in Literature" had been improved with master pieces by authors who had left a mark in world's literature in over a century.

"As a result, our readers have been given a chance to enjoy the works that are a reflection of the best literary traditions of the global civilisation," noted the minister.

The project, seen as crucial in the development of the Macedonian literary language, was realized since 2009 in coordination with St. Clement of Ohrid National Library.
