Entrepreneurship increasingly attractive for young people

Macedonia observes November 14-20 the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the largest global event for promotion of entrepreneurship among young people.

YES Foundation, which organizes the event, says young people are increasingly attracted to entrepreneurship, but there is still lack of courage for business start-up.

"We support all young people who want to become entrepreneurs by providing space with favorable lease, consultancy services, linking with other people in the same or similar business", said YES Foundation director Ljupco Despotovski.

According to Norwegian Ambassador Kjetil Paulsen, the sector of the start-up business is not important, but the motivation given to young people.

"What Macedonia needs is new jobs, regardless of the sector. It is necessary that young people are motivated to start a business, open new companies and new jobs", added Paulsen.

Economy Minister Valon Saraqini stressed the Government dedicates attention to the stimulation of entrepreneurship through budget funds, along with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Committee and a number of projects.

"Entrepreneurship requires innovations, fresh and attractive financial and business ideas. Therefore, young people are the crucial link in the entrepreneurial-minded spirit. They have the required possibilities, strength and creativity, and they should learn how to think about their projects and ideas, and understand how details integrate in the bigger picture", said Minister Saraqini.

President Gjorge Ivanov delivered a video-address, saying the country should create the required conditions for entrepreneurial development.

"Solid infrastructure, quality and applicable education, healthy legal framework and foreseeable actions of regulatory institutions. We must be open to calls for reforms in state institutions, for the purpose of their commitment to citizens' needs and promotion of their business projects and plans", said Ivanov.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people, with millions unleashing their enterprising talents and turning their ideas into reality. Global Entrepreneurship Week is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate all the amazing work that goes on year-round. Last year, there were over 32,000 events run in 88 countries, attended by more than 7.5 million people.
