FM Poposki meets ambassadors of EU and NATO countries to Macedonia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki held Thursday a meeting with the ambassadors of EU and NATO countries serving in Macedonia to present the steps taken by the government in relation to the conclusions reached at EU's  summit in December, the Foreign Ministry said.

"The Minister emphasised that the government is focused on the initiatives aimed at good neighbourliness. With regard to Bulgaria, he referred to the work of working groups informing that all issues are being reviewed for improving the bilateral cooperation. He stated that Macedonia wants results to be derived from the work of working groups to boost the level of trust between the two countries. FM Poposki said that Macedonia's priorities included bilateral projects and their implementation through institutional cooperation," reads MoFA's press release.

With respect to Greece, Poposki noted that the countries' political leaderships need to focus on building trust, sincere communication and on breaking down stereotypes. "We want to have an intensive and open political dialogue on all issues in the spirit of mutual respect," Poposki said underlying that Macedonia's strategic interest is to build exceptional relations with all of its neighbours.

The ambassadors were informed on the government's activities conducted in crucial reform areas and on the ongoing preparations for the March local elections.

Furthermore, FM Poposki said that the High-Level Accession Dialogue is a 'very useful instrument'. The European Commission and Macedonia praise the results and reforms achieved in key areas.
