Ministry, universities sign agreement with e-database generator EBSCO

Ministry of Education and Science, University Library "St.Kliment Ohridski" and all state universities in Macedonia have signed an agreement with EBSCO Publishing from the United States for access to 14 databases of e-academic journals.

The agreement enables access of databases to employees and students in university institutions.

"The EBSCO databases encompass about 50,000 journals, over 18,000 of which are e-journals with full access, a large portion are highly cited journals, 300,000 e-books, 10,000 biographies, over 140,000 documents, 270,000 photographs, maps, flags, and other documents", said Minister of Education and Science Pance Kralev at Monday's promotion.

According to him, access to these databases would improve working conditions of academic staff in Macedonia, as well as approximate results of research activities to global achievements.

"Professors and students will have online access to highly cited scientific journals, thus enhancing the quality of higher education, but also enabling continual monitoring of latest achievements in the academic-research field", added Minister Kralev.

Established in 1944, EBSCO is the world's leading information agent providing consultative services and cutting-edge technology for managing and accessing quality content, including print and e-journals, e-packages, research databases, e-books and more.
