5th volume of Macedonian Interpretative Dictionary promoted

The 5th volume of "The Interpretative Dictionary of the Macedonian Language" - a 620-page work that is considered as one of the main achievements of Macedonian linguistics - was promoted Monday at the Institute for Macedonian Language "Krste Misirkov". The Ministry of Culture financed the publishing of this book.

The dictionary is a top national interest and undoubtedly fulfils a vast gap in the Macedonian lexicography, said Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska.

"The linguistic richness incorporated in between the covers of this publication and previous volumes of the Macedonian Language Interpretative Dictionary shows how unique and different our language is, how beautiful and rich it is," Minister Kanceska-Milevska said in her speech at the ceremony.

She added that all volumes of the Macedonian Interpretative Dictionary demonstrated the continuity of this project and the firm commitment by the experts of the Macedonian Language Institute in preparing this capital work.

The director of the Macedonian Language Institute, professor Veselinka Labroska said the dictionary marked the great achievement made by the institute's staff.

"Without the financial support by the Ministry of Culture, many projects realized by the institute wouldn't have been completed," she added.
