Education Ministry, School of Journalism and Public Relations sign memo on cooperation

Ministry of Education and Science and School of Journalism and Public Relations Tuesday signed memo on cooperation supporting the activities of newly inaugurated UNESCO Chair in Media, Dialogue, and Mutual Understanding at this private institution.

School of Journalism and Public Relations at today's roundtable has promoted postgraduate studies on media and multimedia management and strategic communication management.

Education Minister Pance Kralev said that the memo will focus on common activities on promotion of Chair and its study programmes.

- Especially important is that postgraduate studies will be part of UNESCO Chair, which promotes very similar I would say identical values with the Ministry of Education and Science. Including here also intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. We hope that postgraduate studies and our cooperation will contribute to improvement of higher education in Macedonia and will be an opportunity for knowledge reestablishment, according to UNESCO's values and principles, Kralev said.

Zaneta Trajkoska, Director of School of Journalism and Public Relations, said that new study programme offers preparation for new medias and multimedia platforms and professional and responsible journalism.

- Postgraduate studies will emphasise leadership of every individual, ethic standards in public relations. We hope it will put the position of public relations at managerial level, because the basis of the public relations is planning of communications aimed at being open and transparent regardless of whether they are private or public institutions, Trajkoska said.

Zojka Naskova from UNESCO Office in Venice pointed out the importance of critical role of the media as primary source of information and designers of perceptions of the public.

UNESO will provide 50 scholarship each worth €500 for the first generation of students at postgraduate studies. Curriculum is created in cooperation with professors and experts from School of media, Windesheim University in Netherlands, Danish School of Media and Journalism and Cardiff University in the UK.
