Stavreski: Government's economic measures to result in further cost reduction for companies

The economic measures announced by the Government will result in further reduction of costs for companies, acceleration of procedures to obtain documents, as well as simplification in acquiring building permits, said Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski on Saturday.

"In a time when the European economy is faced with serious challenges, every government needs to stay active, constantly creating new measures and ways to assist the economy. We are doing this as much as we can. One of the crucial measures in this regard is the financial support secured from the European bank for small and medium enterprises. However, we also have 50 other measures that will result in further reduction of costs by companies, acceleration of processes to obtain documents, along with simplification in acquiring building permits", Stavreski told journalists after today's official start of activities within the 24/7 commodity duties at Tabanovce border crossing.

According to him, yesterday's annulment of the transit fee to Serbia would reduce costs for Macedonian transporters.

"The fee annulment was one of the requirements by transporters and exporting companies. These expenditures were serious in such difficult times. I believe transporters will be satisfied and be able to transport their commodities through Serbia to Europe without additional financial burden", emphasized FinMin Stavreski.

Asked if he expected fresh investments resulting from the visit of Prince Michael of Kent to Macedonia, he said several investments would materialize in the coming months.

"The Government is in continual dialogue with a number of investors. I expect an announcement of several investments in the coming months. There are renowned European companies, which will provide jobs to thousands of Macedonian workers. We will present the country's investment climate to the Prince and the UK delegation. I believe some of the British businessmen will later invest in Macedonia", underlined Stavreski.
