Twenty new kindergartens to accommodate 860 children

The opening of 20 new kindergartens throughout Macedonia will accommodate 860 pre-school children, said Government Spokesman Aleksandar Gjorgjiev at Saturday's press conference.

Six kindergartens are already operational, five should open by the beginning of December, and five are to be completed by the year-end or the onset of 2015, while three will be finished in 4-5 months.

The total investment amounts to MKD 55 million (EUR 900,000).

"The construction of these kindergartens will represent a contribution in the field of social policy. Certain kindergartens are built in places without such capacities, meaning parents will not have to take their children 5-10km for day care, thus saving time and costs", stressed Gjorgjiev.

According to the Government's program, 40 new kindergartens are to open in the coming four years. Some will be built, others enlarged, while a portion will be adapted in existing facilities.
