Stavreski: Buy a House, Buy a Flat project has humane dimension

The project "Buy a House, Buy a Flat" enters its second year. Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski said he expected hundreds of citizens this year as well to be provided with support in solving one of the most crucial issues - purchasing a home. Permissions to new beneficiaries of the subsidized housing loan envisaged by the project were handed out Sunday.

"By presenting permissions for the subsidized housing loan, we are marking the first anniversary of the government-run project. It is expected hundreds of families to use this opportunity this year as well. The loan so far has helped 110 citizens," Minister Stavreski said.

Considering that the project is designed to solve a major issue in one's life, he added, it has a humane dimension.

"The government helps those who need support the most in a certain period. The project is intended for citizens having incomes but not enough money to apply for a housing loan or want to get better conditions and this is the role of the government and the project 'Buy a House, Buy a Flat'," the Mr. Stavreski stated.

Thus far, the government has allocated 640,000 euros of subsidies.

Interest rates for the subsidized housing loan are fixed in the first five years i.e. 4.99 per cent for the first three years and 5.49% for the final two years.

Citizens are able to apply for subsidized housing loans through public calls issued by the government until 31 May 2013.
