Gjorgjiev: government to invest €100 mil. for road construction and reconstruction in 2013

This year the government will invest around €100 million for construction and reconstruction of roads throughout the country, Government’s spokesperson Aleksandar Gjorgjiev said at Sunday’s press conference.

The programme for construction and reconstruction of local and regional roads in 2013 includes construction and reconstruction of 133 local roads at length of 162 kilometres in 70 municipalities throughout the country for which €17 million are planned and 11 regional roads at length of 160 kilometres in which €30 million will be invested.

The continuation of intensive investments in road infrastructure through construction, reconstruction and modernisation of roads, according to Gjorgjiev will mean benefit both for the citizens and entire economic development of the country and especially for the construction sector for which this is an opportunity for bigger scope of work and opening new jobs.

The roads will be built and reconstructed through entire territory of the country in every municipality regardless of the composition of the population, its size or political affiliation of the mayor, Gjorgjiev said.
