Government to provide fresh funds in support of industry-FinMin

Macedonia's economy, in particular the industrial sector, is under pressure of the Euro-zone recession. What the Government can do in these circumstances is to provide additional funds for supporting the domestic companies, Vice-Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski told reporters on Wednesday in Strumica.

He expects new Eur15million to be soon withdrawn from the European Investment Bank loan, which will be available to 43 companies.

This amount is significant for the Macedonian companies and I believe it will help them to more easily overcome the current challenges, he added.

Stavreski expressed hope for the recession in Europe to gradually fade, thus enabling the Macedonian industry to recover.

According to the State Statistical Office data, the industrial production volume index in Macedonia last month was down for 4,6% in comparison to October of 2011.

The industrial production volume index in January-October 2012 declined for 6,7% in comparison with the same period of the last year.
