PM Gruevski: If Makedonism means respect of Macedonian people I am Makedonist

Greek President Karolos Papoulias to give some positive energy to the issue. He has sufficient experience and age, knowing well that exchanging blows in order to gather political points at home is not the way to solve things, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters on Thursday with regards to the Greek President's accusations that the Macedonian PM is the leader of 'Makedonism'.

According to him, if Papoulias says this in the sense of supporting Macedonian identity, nationality and language, and since a majority of the people here are Macedonians and feel as such, having a national and lingual entity tied to Macedonia and the Macedonian language, then he gladly accepts the role as leader of Makedonism.

"It is not a shame, a sin or an insult for another state if a prime minister supports the identity of his own people, supports the language, nationality, culture", said Gruevski.

In this respect, he does not feel Papoulias' statement as accusations.

"Greece has collected points among its population for 21 years, but has not gone far. Just look at current developments there. Therefore, I would urge them to stop spreading of unproductive negative energy, accusations and slander, let them to determine the time and place and I will go there for talks. If they say come to Athens tomorrow, we will go there, in order to talk and try to overcome the dispute. If they say come to Brussels, we'll go to Brussels. If they say -Skopje, we'll meet here. Wherever they decide, whatever the way, the important thing is to meet as soon as possible in order to find a solution, instead of sending negative messages", said PM Gruevski after putting into use four laboratories at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI).
