Gruevski: Poland remains strong supporter to Macedonia’s integration in NATO and EU

The meeting of Prime Ministers of Poland, Central Europe and China in Warsaw ended very successfully and it was a good opportunity for realisation of many informal and formal meetings, about main issues which concern us, especially the issue connected with NATO and EU membership, because majority of the countries are their member states.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated this in Warsaw where he participated at Economic Forum Poland-Central Europe-China, hosted by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

- In general we have the support of these countries and they understand our problem and I hope that as previously they will help the Republic of Macedonia as much as they can in the future, Gruevski said.

- We have explained in details the problems we are facing with Greece and I have pointed out that since December 2011 we have a new moment and it is the judgment of the International Court of Justice which clearly states that Greece is found guilty for violating the international law. I have pointed out that Court does not expect Greece to repeat this in the future and that Macedonia in the entire past period did not violate the accord and talks with good will aimed at finding a solution, Gruevski pointed out.

I have pointed out to Polish PM that if NATO continues to ignore this accord, regardless of any reasons, whether if they hope speed solution with Greece will be found or due to principle of solidarity, that the Alliance in the eyes of Macedonian and world public will be put in the situation not to respect the international law.

- I think it is not that NATO member states and Alliance as institution are wishing and they should find way more seriously and strongly to encourage Greece to find solution and to surpass this problem which is a problem from the beginning of 90's, Gruevski said.

He sought support from Poland, which recognised the Republic of Macedonia under its constitutional name in 2005, whereat it was pointed out that Warsaw will still remain supporter to Macedonia on its road to NATO and EU.

- At the meeting with Tusk we have assessed that our bilateral relations are excellent, friendly and without open issues. I have invited him to visit Macedonia and to bring large number of companies in order business forum to be held, Gruevski said.

Gruevski announced that road show is planned for next year in Central Europe as well as in Poland and PM Tusk welcomed the idea assessing it as excellent and Polish Government fully supports it.
