FM Poposki to meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon

Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki is set to meet in New York with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The meeting is expected to focus on judgment of the International Court of Justice and its ignoring especially in context to Macedonia's integration in NATO and EU.

Poposki will request from Ban Ki-moon to urge for respect of judgment of the court which is the instrument of the UN and which confirmed that blocking of Macedonia's membership in NATO is illegal.

- Judgement of the International Court of Justice is solid basis that can help in resolving the problem between Macedonia and Greece. The United Nations is definitely a framework where rules for bilateral relations between two countries are defined. In conditions when Macedonia seeks to join NATO and EU, and Interim Accord guarantees this, we consider that these are strong arguments that should be valued, Poposki stated after heading for New York.

The meeting with Ban Ki-moon is considered as one of the latest attempts to influence Macedonia to be put on the agenda at the forthcoming NATO Summit in Chicago.

Poposki is to meet with UN mediator in Macedonia-Greece name talks Matthew Nimetz.

Moreover, Poposki in the US will meet congressmen, experts and other influential supporters of Macedonia.
