PM Gruevski meets new Head of EU Delegation to Macedonia Orav

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski met Tuesday with the new Head of the EU Delegation to Macedonia, Aivo Orav.

Extending congratulations to Orav on his new post, Gruevski said he would enjoy the PM's and Government's full support in favor of establishing frank, dynamic and close cooperation between the Government and EU Delegation.

Gruevski expressed belief that Orav's professional and the experience with the EU enlargement process would substantially contribute to the joint efforts for realizing Macedonia's strategic goal -- full-fledged EU membership.

The credibility of EU enlargement in regard to Macedonia should be preserved, as there is no reasonable argument for delaying the launch of the country's EU accession talks, Gruevski said.

Macedonia, he said, remains fully committed to the UN-mediated negotiations on the differences over Macedonia's name, imposed by Greece, and to finding a mutually acceptable solution to the issue.

Gruevski also reaffirmed the Government's commitment to keep on with reforms in line with the EU priorities and standards.
