PM Gruevski meets NATO Secretary General in Brussels

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski at a meeting on Wednesday in Brussels asked NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen conclusions from the 2008 NATO summit hosted by Bucharest that refer to Macedonia to be re-examined, the judgment of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) revealing that some of the provisions of the 1995 Interim Accord had been breached by Greece to be taken into consideration and the country to be urged to abide by the Interim Accord.

At the meeting with Rasmussen, Gruevski also called for Greece, being a NATO member, to respect international law and to stop using the economic crisis at home as an excuse to avoid further dialogue under the auspices of UN mediator Matthew Nimetz.

At a meeting of the North Atlantic Council, PM Gruevski received a confirmation that Macedonia in practice has been functioning as a NATO member with its contribution to and engagement in peace missions led by the Alliance. The ambassadors praised Macedonia's role as a contributor and factor providing regional stability as well as government's reforms implemented in all spheres.
