PM Dimitriev meets German MP Frei

Caretaker Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev held Monday a meeting with German MP Thorsten Frei, who is the main rapporteur for Macedonia at the Bundestag.

The interlocutors commended the favorable relations fostered by Macedonia and Germany urging efforts to continue to improve and strengthen the cooperation in every sphere of mutual interest. 

Both parties stressed the importance of and the need for organizing fair and democratic elections. Dimitriev, who helms the government in charge of organizing the elections, underlined the government’s commitment to administrating a credible election process and emphasized the government’s clear position on supporting the work of the State Election Commission on matters as required by the commission.

The two interlocutors concurred that all political parties should demonstrate a positive approach to confidence building in the election process and recognize election results in a bid a political government to be formed having a complete focus on priorities allowing economic development, fulfillment of Macedonia’s strategic goal to join the EU and NATO and implementation of reforms required for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Talks also focused on the management of effects of the migrant crisis. PM Dimitriev said a closure of the political crisis would infuse an additional quality to overcome current and potential challenges arising from the crisis.
