PM Gruevski meets Serbian President Tadic

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Serbia's President Boris Tadic, who is paying a two-day visit to Macedonia,  expressed satisfaction Friday with the interest in intensifying the political dialogue and overall cooperation between the two countries.

The great interest in and commitment to bolstering the economic cooperation between the two countries is rather significant, Gruevski said.

It has been confirmed by opening of Serbia's Economic Chamber Representative Office in Macedonia, activities of recently established Macedonian Business Association in Serbia and the organization of today's bilateral business forum, the PM said, pointing out that there are other opportunities for advancing the overall economic ties.

Gruevski and Tadic also tackled the cooperation in the spheres of transport, infrastructure, energy, agriculture and culture. They hailed the results of trans-border cooperation, such as the opening of Crcorija-Goles border crossing, agreement allowing citizens of both countries to travel across the border with biometric identity cards, as well as the one on joint border control.

Gruevski briefed Tadic about Macedonia's processes for the EU, NATO integration. He welcomed the European Commission's recommendation for Serbia to be granted a candidate status for the EU membership. Macedonia is ready, Gruevski said, to share its experience of the EU integration with Serbia.

Gruevski and Tadic agreed that Macedonian-Serbian overall relations should keep advancing. They emphasized the commitment of both countries to realize their aspirations for full-fledged EU membership and create conditions for the prosperity of the entire region.
