Promotion of 10 new titles – part of Government's project for translation of 1.000 textbooks

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski promoted Tuesday ten new titles – part of the Government's project for translation of 1.000 reference and textbooks used at top universities across the globe.

The new books cover the spheres of economics, pharmaceutics, mathematics, natural sciences, philosophy, philology, pedagogy, IT, sports and physical culture.

Since the project's launch in 2009, a total of 967 titles have been translated and distributed to libraries and universities throughout Macedonia, Spirkovski said, pointing out that it would be expanded with 200 books and opening of reading rooms in municipalities across the country in the next four years.

The project has been fulfilling its main goal - bringing the best reference books to students in their mother tongue, said Ristovski at the promotion, also attended by ruling VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski.

The promoting ceremony took place in Skopje reading room '1000 Books', opened initially for supporting the project, namely for presentation of all translated textbooks and for putting them at citizens' disposal, Ristovski said.

But the reading-room has acquired own identity becoming the 'second home' to students working on researching, presentations, etc.

The list of translated books is available on www.1000knigi.mon.gov.mk/ and in the catalogue of capital publishing projects, available on the web sites mon.gov.mk and kultura.gov.mk.
