PM Gruevski meets US officials Session and Bersin in Washington

As part of his day-long visit to the United States, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski held Monday meetings with US Congressman Pete Session and Alan Bersin, US Assistant Secretary for International Affairs.

Visiting the US Congress, PM Gruevski held a meeting with Session, who chairs the House Rules Committee – one the oldest and most influential standing committees in the Congress. He is also considered one of the most esteemed congressmen from the US Republican party.

Praising the relations between Macedonia and the United States, Gruevski and Session vowed to personally engage more in enhancing and improving them.

The interlocutors also discussed ways to improve business cooperation, cooperation in relation to investments and trade while sharing views on ways to establish concrete cooperation.

Moreover, talks focused on the necessity Macedonia to be integrated into NATO in a bid to maintain regional stability and security.

The interlocutors also discussed challenges arising from the migrant crisis and ways to address it and the use of US experiences acquired on the matter.

PM Gruevski extended gratitude to the US for its support for Macedonia pointing out its strategic orientation to foster a partnership with the country. Congressman Session welcomed Macedonia’s economic policy pledging to continue advocating for support in the US congress and its committees for our country in areas deemed necessary.

The Republic of Macedonia and the US, they vowed, will continue to foster close cooperation at political, economic and security-related level in all areas of mutual interest.

The Macedonian PM met with Alan Bersin, who also serves as the Vice President of INTERPOL.

They discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation between Macedonia and the US in relation to security and prevention of security risks.

PM Gruevski later in the day is scheduled to hold talks with US Vice President Joe Biden.
