"Social Patrol Work" project launched

Three teams made up of three social workers each will patrol the municipalities of Center, Gazi Baba and Gjorce Petrov in Skopje in order to detect and solve social issues, which is being envisaged by the project "Social Patrol Work" of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

Minister of Labour and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski told a press conference on Saturday that patrolling social workers will be detecting social issues, such as homelessness, street children, panhandling, family violence, senior citizens, drug addicts, people with disabilities and dysfunctional family relations.

"Issues will be solved with a systematic approach in coordinated cooperation between the patrolling worker, the Center for Social Work and the Red Cross of the City of Skopje. Thus, we will be able to fully identify circumstances that hinder the development of individuals, groups and the community itself," Ristovski said.

The project is expected to start after the New Year's holidays. "Prevention is the best way to curb social risks," the Minister stated.
