Promotion of new titles under 'Stars of World Literature' project

On Thursday Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska promoted Thursday 30 new titles - part of the Government's project the 'Stars of World Literature'.

Let this 12th promotion of books remind us that literacy is a blessing that enables human progress, Gruevski said at ceremony.

"The Government will keep supporting projects that will enrich Macedonia's cultural fund. I am certain that citizens will respect our efforts for advancing the domestic publishing sector and take the opportunity to broaden their horizons by reading these masterpieces," Gruevski said.

The books, promoted today, include translations in Macedonian language of the oldest collection of Chinese poetry - The Book of Odes (Shi Jing), Sophocles plays, as well as works of prominent authors, such as Ernest Hemingway, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, Czeslaw Milosz, Robert Musil, Bela Hamvas, Rainer Maria Rilke, Friedrich Schiller...

Translated literary works will bring benefit to all generations, in particular to the young people and their education, Kanceska-Milevska said.
