Construction work begins on the new housing utility office building in downtown Skopje

Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Cvetko Grozdanov from the Public Housing utility company (ADSDP) marked the beginning of construction of the new building of the company. The utility company, which has built apartment blocks across Macedonia, is itself famously housed in decrepit wooden barracks. Now they will construct a modern six stories high office building with a total of 6.400 square meters of office space worth 9 million EUR that will house its 180 employees.

"This investment will create an integrated office space which will house all ADSDP services at one location, which will improve its productiveness and the quality of services given to the citizens. The new building will bring to long term reduced operating costs. We continue to reduce the number of institutions that are paying rent for their offices, or which operate in time-worn offices that were meant only as a temporary solution. The image of the public administration is gradually changed, among other things, by the facilities they operate in", Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the opening of the construction work.

Construction should be completed by 2017. The construction site is in downtown Skopje, between the new Foreign Affairs Ministry building and the old Theater building. Gruevski said that the Government will continue to build new office space for its administrative units that will reduce the need to pay rent. Work on the new office building started on Monday, a day ahead of the Independence Day celebration.
