Three local roads in Tetovo region put into service

On his day-long visit to the region of Tetovo, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski on Thursday put into operation three local roads connecting Brvenica and Dolno Sedlarce, Brvenica and Celopek and Jegunovce and Ratae.

The inauguration is in fact a fulfillment of yet another promise made by the government, Gruevski said in an address at the event.

The construction of the three local roads is estimated at MKD 16 million (EUR 260,000.

“In the coming period, we will keep on investing to improve the road infrastructure in the region of Polog (northwestern Macedonia). More than EUR 2 million is going to be invested to reconstruct and build close to 20 kilometers of roads,” stated Gruevski.

Referring to road infrastructure in the Polog region, the Macedonian PM said that over 90 kilometers of local and regional roads had been constructed, rehabilitated and modernized for which over EUR 11 million had been invested. “Last year, EUR 4,5 million was invested in Tetovo alone for the rehabilitation of 30 kilometers of local and regional roads.”

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Minister of Transport and Communications Vlado Misajlovski and director of the Agency for State Roads Aleksandar Stojanov.

The government will also continue to repay damages caused by recent floods in the region of Polog, Gruevski vowed mentioning that concrete aid measured had been adopted yesterday.

On Wednesday, the government presented measures for assisting the population in the flood-affected region of Tetovo, including damage compensation and one-time financial assistance.

Earlier in the day, PM Gruevski together with Misajlovski, Deputy PM Vladimir Pesevski and Defense Minister Zoran Jolevski visited the villages of Sipkovica and Mala Recica, which were hit the hardest by floods in early August that claimed the lives of six people, four of them children.
