PM Gruevski: Ohrid-Struga zone ready to welcome new factories

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, accompanied by Ohrid Mayor Nikola Bakarceski, visited Saturday the technical-industrial development zone Ohrid-Struga, located near the Ohrid Airport.

The zone is Government's investment for attracting foreign companies. A fund of EUR 6 million has been provided for setting up the zone's infrastructure.

The ODV - Electric, which already has its 'brownfield' production plant in Ohrid, will launch preoperational works for construction of a factory in this zone, which will mean opening of 1.000 direct and indirect jobs - partners and suppliers of the German company for manufacturing electric parts for the automotive industry, Gruevski said.

Representatives of the German company 'Kostal', which has already announced its decision to invest in Ohrid, will visit Macedonia next week, Gruevski said. The company, as announced, plans to launch 'brown-field' operation in the existing plant this October and kick-off a construction of own factory in the Ohrid-Struga zone at the onset of next year, the PM said. The construction of two large factories in the Ohrid-Struga zone will mean creating of at least 2.000 jobs, he added.

"Our team has been working each and every day on attracting investors that will open jobs all over Macedonia," the PM said.
