Presentation of best short film awards within campaign 'Together for Schools Free of Violence'

Ognen Ogjanovski, Angelce Milev and Olza Neimi are the winners of the best short film awards within the campaign 'Together for Schools Free of Violence', organized by United Nations Children's Fund  (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Education and Science (MON).

A total of 33 finalists were competing for the best one-minute video award.

MON has drafted a comprehensive strategy for training school staff, teachers to deal with potential violent outbursts, Minister Pance Kralev said at the awarding ceremony on Sunday.

'Such training has been conducted in all elementary and some high schools," Kralev said, calling once again on school leaders and staff, teachers, parents, and students themselves - to come together and take action against such problems.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy is offering all of its resources to support MON in fighting the violence in schools, thus contributing to the overall development of the society, Minister Spriro Ristivski said.

The first phase of the campaign started earlier this year with a song competition open to all children.  Using the lyrics from the winners, the campaign theme song - performed by the popular musicians and UNICEF supporters, Jana Burcevska, Adrijan Gadza and the duo 'Next Time' – calls on the whole school community to 'Start with you, be the change you want to see.'

The campaign is part of a comprehensive programme that is re-examining how violent behaviour is managed in the education system, and in the community as a whole.
