National Geo-Portal promoted

The National Geo-Portal, aimed at swift, easy and efficient exchange of spatial data among state institutions, was promoted in the Government on Thursday.

The data, developed in line with the European standards, will also be available for citizens, but can also be used by companies for their own needs and development of new added value products for commercial purposes.

The geo-portal contains Cadastre data on the state border, statistical regions, populated places, local self-government units, national parks, age of population, potential wildfire sources etc.

"The geo-portal will raise the efficiency and effectiveness of institutions, but also contribute to the economic development and facilitate the access to required data for citizens and the business community", Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski said at the promotion.

Agency for Real Estate Cadastre director Slavce Trpeski said users had to go from one institution to another in order to obtain spatial data, but now they could do it online.

"The geo-portal is a web solution for searching, downloading and publishing of spatial data by state institutions", added Trpeski.

The geo-portal is available at the Cadastre website http://nipp.katastar.gov.mk
