Projects for economic recovery of northeast Macedonia under way

The investment cycle across Macedonia shows no signs of slowing down and the announced plans and projects to develop the northeastern part of the country are about to be realized, Deputy PM for economic affairs Vladimir Pesevski said on Sunday during a visit to the region of Kriva Palanka.

The investments for economic recovery in this area are based on several major projects, according to him.

“Namely, first off with the free economic zone, given for use to the Turkish-Chinese company Weibo that is set to build an industrial complex between Kriva Palanka and Rankovce. Here several thousand people will find jobs. Because infrastructural connection of the region is crucial, projects with the World Bank envisage the road from Rankovce to Kriva Palanka to be expanded and turned into an express way,” noted Pesevski.

The government, he added, has also launched the construction of railroad tracks from Kumanovo to the Bulgarian border, which is expected to be completed in due time.

“With the construction of railroad tracks, Kriva Palanka will be put on the map of one of the vital corridors in the Balkans, i.e. corridor 8. It will pave the way for better transport of goods, new investments and the establishment of a small industrial zone in its vicinity, which will be intended first and foremost for local companies,” noted the Deputy PM.
