US Secretary of State Pompeo arrived in our country: Talking points: North Macedonia’s progress in the NATO and EU membership processes and stabilization and prosperity of the region

Today the US Secretary of State, Michael R. Pompeo, arrived for one-day official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia. 

At the airport in Ohrid the US Secretary of State Pompeo was welcome by MFA of North Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, with high state honours. Afterwards, they departed for Ohrid to meet national officials. 
 

Today in Villa Biljana, US Secretary of State Pompeo will meet the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski. Afterwards, he will meet the President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev.

After the tête-à-tête meeting between Prime Minister Zaev and the US Secretary of State Pompeo, bilateral meeting is scheduled. This meeting will be attended by the President of the Government Zoran Zaev, Deputy President of the Government and Minister of Defence, Radmila Sekerinska, Deputy President of the Government in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov.

The interlocutors will discuss the cooperation between the two countries, the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia in the process for EU and NATO membership and the issues referring to stabilization and prosperity of the region.

In the afternoon US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and his delegation consisting of Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker and the Ambassador of the USA to North Macedonia, Kate Marie Byrnes, will visit the Church Holy Mary Perybleptos in Ohrid which has been renovated and restored with funds secured through the USAID’s programs.

The US Secretary of State Pompeo tonight will depart our country and will go to Greece, after his previous visits to Italy and Montenegro.
