New investment in Macedonia expected to be announced next week, says Gruevski

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski expects a new investment in the region of Struga and Ohrid to be announced next week adding that negotiations are under way with several companies.

“Negotiations are nearing completion with several companies. I expect the company, which informally told us this past spring that it had reached an internal decision for investment, to announce next week its action plan for the construction of a plant. The company plans on investing in the region of Struga and Ohrid,” Gruevski told reporters during his visit to Stip on Saturday.

The PM said that negotiations were set to be concluded involving yet another investment in northwestern Macedonia with several thousand jobs.

“We are close to successfully finishing negotiations with a company that is due to invest in northwestern Macedonia. Several thousand jobs are involved, however negotiations aren’t closed yet and therefore I cannot confirm this at the moment. We’re in the final stage of negotiations,” Gruevski said adding that negotiations were also nearing completion with several other companies.

Gruevski stressed the government was deeply devoted to attracting investments which thus far was generating positive results.

This past week, the companies Gentherm and Cap-Con announced their plans to invest in the coming period in Skopje and Prilep.
