Peshevski: I am Optimistic that We will Realize All Set Foreign Investments by the End of This Year

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Issues Vladmimir Peshevski is optimistic and expects that all planned foreign investments for this year will be realized.

- Realistically, we expect a slight slow down of the economy in the second part of this year, but I am optimistic that what we projected in terms of foreign investments will be accomplished. Yet we would have to wait and see whether it will happen or not… After the elections, the amount of foreign investors in Macedonia is increasing. Today’s investment of about 10 million euros of the Italian group Euroitalia confirms that, said Peshevski after laying the cornerstone of the multifunctional shopping centre at Petrovec.

This shows that the efforts of the Government for improving the business climate are taking the right track and yield real results, i.e. the indicators of the international institutions which point out the improvement of the business climate are in fact true, highlighted Peshevski.

- Recently, Johnson Controls made its second investment in Macedonia. The Italian group Euroitalia is making their second investment today at Petrovec, and they plan another one in Katlanovo, said Peshevski.

Asked whether the Government will change the strategy for the roads after the unsuccessful tender for the Corridor 8, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that several models are being reviewed.

- When the model which we deem right is chosen, it will be announced.  The reality is that the uncertainties of the global economic scene affected the investors, which became more cautious. It is already quite clear that this investment is taking a slightly slower pace and that the realization of this project will be divided in multiple stages, but the Government will not abandon its realization, this is certain, stated Peshevski.
