Tuesday marked the start of the construction of a new school building in Skopje right next to an existing one, which will cover an area of 1,220 square meters. The MKD 75-million investment was provided by the Ministry of Education and Science.

The ground-breaking ceremony in the Skopje municipality of Kisela Voda was attended by PM Nikola Gruevski, Education Minister Abdilaqim Ademi and his deputy Spiro Ristovski.

September 1, the start of the new school year is the most appropriate way to mark the start of a new project in Kisela Voda and the construction of yet another school in Macedonia, PM Gruevski stated noting that classes had been held in old prefabricated facilities for 50 years.

“The new school building will offer completely new conditions for the students and their teachers, completely new classrooms and new equipment,” said the Prime Minister adding that the school building was expected to be completed by late 2016.

Furthermore, over 40 school premises across Macedonia have been renovated during the summer break.
