Gruevski: growth of industrial production sign that economy slowly recovers

Tetovo, January 30th

PM Nikola Gruevski considers that the growth of industrial production by 20% in December 2009 compared to December 2008 is a sign that economy slowly recovers.

- The growth of industrial production was not a surprise for us, but the announcements of the experts that 2010 will be the year of gradual recovery of economic crisis have confirmed this. We are glad from the fact that we have showed to be a state that has capacity to surpass such economic crisis, Gruevski said, answering journalist question after opening new sports hall in Zerovjane, Tetovo region.

Regarding the taxes for used cars, PM Gruevski said that current analyses made by the Ministry of Economy showed that citizens and state would have more use than negative effects.

He said that one third of the cars in Macedonia do not meet neither one eco nor safety standards. By this decision citizens will be able to replace such cars with cares that meet Euro 1 and Euro 2 standards, which will be improvement on ecological and safety plan, Gruevski said.

Asked about the decision of the Constitutional Court for abolishing four regulations from the Law on Lustration, Gruevski said that it would have negative influence on entire process. He said that he recently mentioned, "an opposition party has influence on the Constitutional Court but this shows that they fear from lustration."

On journalist question whether he will observe the recommendations OSCE and international community for introduction of the Macedonian language to first grade Albanian pupils, Gruevski said he was sorry that the entire project was wrongly comprehended.

He said that it is about project for integration and everything was planned to have positive effects. Arguments of the experts were that when English language is taught in first grade why not Macedonian to be taught as well.

- We know what it means denial of language, because the neighbour are denying our language. It was not our goal. This is a chance for integration. I admit maybe we failed to make enough preparations on the terrain, but I emphasise that entire project is well intentioned.

Regarding the differences of name of Macedonia, Gruevski said that latest information after the meeting between FM Milososki and Alternate Greek FM Droutsas is that mediator Matthew Nimetz will soon visit both Macedonia and Greece. Nimetz has long experience in negotiations and that’s why he is most favourable facilitator in the process, Gruevski said.
